Eurowings cabin baggage

Cabin baggage, often referred to as accompanied baggage, defines the piece of luggage that passengers can place in the compartment above their seats or under the seat in front of them.

Eurowings baggage policy states that each passenger can bring one item of cabin luggage on board with a maximum weight of 8 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm. Moreover, Eurowings cabin baggage limit is increased for the passengers who purchased the BEST fare service as they can bring two pieces of cabin luggage on board.

Please note that passengers with Basic tickets have not a guarantee on taking their items into the cabin.

Eurowings hand luggage

Hand luggage is defined as a small bag, a laptop bag or purse that can be taken on the board of the plane, in addition to cabin baggage which is usually placed in the overhead compartment.

In addition to cabin baggage, Eurowings baggage allowance permits each passenger to carry on board a further small item of hand luggage, not exceeding 40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm (e.g. laptop bag, handbag, briefcase, folder satchel, etc.) free of charge.

Eurowings hold baggage

Eurowings hold baggage allowance depends on the type of travel package purchased upon booking. There are 4 types available:

• BASIC fare
  This is the standard type of package and does not include checked baggage.
• SMART fare
  One piece of baggage up to 23 kg is included.
• BEST fare
  This tier is only offered in long distance flights and includes 2 pieces of baggage up to 23 kg
• BIZclass
  This premium option includes 2 pieces of baggage up to 32 kg. in the price of the ticket

Those passengers who want to add more luggage up to 5 pieces can do it upon payment of the following fees:

Eurowings excess baggage

Excess baggage defines additional pieces of luggage a passenger can purchase or an increased weight limit of already purchased luggage.

Eurowings discriminates between excess baggage in hand luggage and checked baggage. The first type requires a payment of 35€ in short and mid-distance flights and 70€ in long distance; meanwhile checked baggage has a surcharge of 50€ in short and mid-distance flights and 100€ in long distance flights. If excess baggage fee for checked baggage is due to be paid at the airport, then Eurowings charges 12€ per kg in short and mid-distance flights, and 20€ per kg in long distance flights.

Additional carry-on items with Eurowings

Eurowings baggage allowance permits travellers to take the following items on board without extra cost:

• One baby carrier or child car seat or a foldable pushchair/buggy (stored in the cargo hold, if necessary)
• One wheelchair/orthopaedic aid are permitted in the cabin

Eurowings sports equipment fees

Eurowings offers transport of diverse sports equipment in its flights. Ski equipment up to 32 kg. has no charge; other items such as sport weapons, golf equipment, bicycles or surf equipment have a fixed price of 50€ in short and mid-distance flights and 100€ in long-distance flights.

Musical instruments

Eurowings baggage policy allows transport of musical instruments. They may be carried on board as hand luggage into a soft case of maximum 55 x 40 x 23 cm.

Larger musical instruments must be placed on an extra seat in the cabin and an extra ticket must be purchased in this case. Eurowings baggage policy states that if the passenger books an extra seat for the instrument by midnight on the same day the flight was booked, the extra seat can be purchased at the same price as the passenger’s seat. If the passenger adds the extra seat later, the cost will be the same as the current price for the flight as displayed on the Eurowings website.

Eurowings pet policy

Eurowings pet policy allows transport of pets up to 8 kg in an appropriate container for a fee of €55. The policy also states that no additional charge for assistance dogs has to be paid.
