WHEN TO SHIP CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are not considered public holidays in most countries. Therefore, most couriers and postal service will work on these dates, performing deliveries of Christmas gifts and parcels. However, since this is a time of the year when logistics services are in extremely high demand, most couriers will give priority to delivering the packages they already have instead of performing collections.
Please take into consideration that Christmas may be celebrated on different dates depending on the country. Catholic countries usually celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December, while Orthodox nations have the same holiday on the 7th of January. Check the full calendar for European countries.

Freight transport is a bit more delicate than parcel delivery during the Christmas period because most roads are closed for trucks between the holidays of Christmas and New Year’s. As a result, logistics companies may perform collections until the last working days before Christmas, but, from 18th of December onwards, the shipment will be stored at their warehouse until their normal shipping activities are resumed on the 7th of January. If you need any assistance while arranging freight transport during the Christmas season of 2020, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
Since most couriers and postal services do not perform deliveries on Christmas or New Year’s Day, we have gathered a couple of tips to ensure you will have a successful parcel delivery on the 1st attempt.
Provide the correct pick-up and delivery address
Avoid shipping prohibited and restricted items
Schedule the collection 5-7 working days ahead
Please have in mind that the shipping companies do their best to deliver as many packages as possible before the holidays. However, if the courier or postal service does not deliver your parcel before Christmas, you can be sure they will do so on the following working days. There is no need to reschedule the delivery service in this case.
