Eurosender offers you a variety of coverage options for international shipping of packages, large parcels, or any freight, as follows:
Standard shipping – Up to 200 EUR per parcel/suitcase.
Express package shipping – Liability of up to 18,9 EUR per kg, based on the proof of value before transportation.
Express document shipping – Extended liability available.
Shared truck (LTL), or Full truck (FTL) – CMR insurance up to 10 EUR per kg of the damaged goods, based on the proof of value before transportation.

Things to check for valid insured worldwide shipping

To receive compensation for the insured package delivery, make sure you are ticking all the boxes:

  • Determine the value of the items you are shipping. Receipts usually serve as proof of value for validation of the shipping insurance on international or domestic shipments.
  • Take photos of the items you are shipping to serve as additional proof of the shipment.
  • The shipment’s packaging complies with the requirements.
  • The shipment does not contain any items considered prohibited and restricted items for shipping.

Can I insure my international parcel delivery with Eurosender?

Eurosender services already include basic shipping insurance for most international and domestic shipments booked through our platform with selected transportation services.

Are all international shipments insured?

Not all shipments are covered by insurance, so please bear in mind that you will not be covered for damage, loss or theft for shipments that contain prohibited or restricted items. The shipping insurance does not apply for high-value items, fragile, dangerous, illegal, perishable goods or items which are not appropriately packed according to our packing guidelines.

How much does international shipping insurance for packages cost?

With most of our offered transportation services, you do not need to pay extra to receive basic insurance coverage!

If you book a shipment through the Eurosender platform, you automatically get insured package delivery with coverage of up to 200 EUR on most shipments with our standard shipping service. For all of the shipping services and the basic coverage per shipment, check here.
The cost of the additional insurance that you want to add on top of the basic one varies and depends on the coverage you want to have.
I am shipping multiple packages within one order. Does the international shipping insurance apply individually for each package?

When you send the package with insurance through our standard service, the shipping insurance applies to each package. Shipments with multiple boxes will be covered for up to 200 EUR per box. Additional insurance applies for standard shipments for up to the increased value selected per shipment. See our section on additional insurance coverage options.

Can I select separate shipping insurance for different parcels within my order?

Suppose you would like to send multiple parcels with separate insurance. In that case, you will need to book each box separately as it is not possible to select additional shipping insurance for specific packages only.

If you are sending multiple parcels within one order, you can select additional insurance which will apply to each of your packages individually, for the same amount. For example, with the standard shipping service, you will get the default 200 EUR cover per box. Let’s assume you are purchasing additional coverage of 1000 EUR per package. In this case, you will have to buy the extra coverage for each package individually within the same order.
Does the basic insurance for international and domestic shipments cover suitcases?

Basic shipping insurance will cover up to 200 EUR per shipment if the suitcase was inside a box for domestic international deliveries. Choose a cardboard box if you are shipping in the UK, Czech Republic, Poland or Austria for the insurance to be applicable.

If you wish to increase your shipping insurance value, you can purchase additional insurance during the booking process.
Can I add shipping insurance after finalizing my order?

You can add additional shipping insurance at any stage before your order is confirmed with a logistics service provider. If you want additional insurance and did not purchase it during the booking process, you should contact us by phone or email at help@eurosender.com.

Can I increase the insurance coverage for more than 5.000 EUR?

Depending on your chosen route and service, you may be able to increase the value of your shipping insurance to exceed the maximum value of 5.000 EUR. Please contact our team to discuss your shipping insurance options.

Is additional shipping insurance worth getting?

We would recommend you to purchase additional shipping insurance when shipping goods overseas. This way, you will increase your chances of getting higher compensation if the parcel is lost, stolen, or damaged.

Can I select additional shipping insurance for high-value items?

Please be aware that basic or additional shipping insurance will not apply to high-value items, fragile items, dangerous, illegal or perishable goods. You can read the list of items that aren’t covered by insurance on this link. If you choose to send restricted or prohibited items, individuals choose to at their own risk and responsibility.

Does shipping insurance apply for personal items?

Bear in mind that you have to provide proof of the value of the items you are shipping. If you cannot provide any receipts or other proof of value, the insurance may not apply, and the logistics provider will reject the claim.

Are insurance options different for businesses and individuals?

The amount of coverage available for standard, express, van delivery or Document Services is the same regardless of whether you are shipping as a business or individual.

As a company, you can add additional international freight insurance exceeding the maximum of 5.000 EUR on request.
When considering international freight insurance, please know that basic coverage may not apply to personal items shipped with our freight service. Before booking a freight shipment for personal items, contact us first to find the best international freight insurance solution for your load.
What international freight shipping insurance apply to pallet shipments?

When shipping pallets by road, your shipment will be covered by the CMR convention. Any additional international shipping freight insurance added will apply to the whole load. If you want to add insurance to each parcel, you will need to book them separately, by placing individual orders.

In which situations do I get compensation on the insured package delivery?

Shipping insurance for international and domestic shipments apply in the unlikely event of damage, loss or theft of goods during transit. The declared value of the goods and the shipping insurance coverage determine maximum coverage. The amount you will be reimbursed is decided after the selected logistics provider concludes their investigation and determines the validity of the claim.

How do I raise a claim for the damaged content on my insured package delivery?
  1. Inspect your shipment thoroughly in the presence of the delivery driver.
  2. Do not sign for the shipment if you believe it is damaged or partly missing. Claims that the driver left too quickly will not be accepted.
  3. File a damage report signed by yourself (the receiver) and the delivery driver.
  4. Report the event to claims@eurosender.com within 48 hours of receiving your shipment, including your damage report and any photos or supporting documentation.
  5. You will receive additional documentation to complete, via email.
  6. The receipt of the purchased goods may be requested as proof of value.
  7. Send the requested documentation via email as soon as possible. Eurosender will then submit the claim to the logistics service provider in charge of delivery. Throughout the process, we will act on your behalf and keep you informed via email as updates come to hand.
  8. Upon receiving the claim, the logistics service provider must conclude their assessment and provide a decision within 60 days.
Who determines the amount to be reimbursed in the event of loss or damage?

The logistics provider in charge of your order will first conduct an investigation to establish the validity of your claim. After the logistics provider assesses your claim and accepts it, they will determine the amount that you will be reimbursed for.

Will I be reimbursed for damage to the suitcase as well as its contents?

Insurance will only apply if you placed the items inside a cardboard box. To avoid damage to your luggage, we recommend you pack the contents of the suitcase into a cardboard box for better protection.

I bought additional shipping insurance, but my claim was rejected. Am I still entitled to compensation?

You will not be entitled to reimbursement if the logistics provider rejects the claim, regardless of the value of additional insurance selected or the value of the goods stated during the booking process.
